Kath Haselden, wife of John Docwra

A memorial brass originally in East Hatley Church, Hertfordshire, but now moved to nearby Hatley St George Church, showing Katherine Haselden, died 1520, the wife of John Docwra.  Originally the brass had both figures side by side, but the lower part of the figure of James was lost, followed by the remainder, so all that remains is Katherine.

Katherine was the daughter of John Haseldon of Murdon and Chesterford, she married James Docwra ( b.c.1460-d.c.1497) of Bradkirke, Hertfordshire.  James and Katherine had a son, John1, and a daughter, Elizabeth2

James, who was buried at East Hatley, Cambridgeshire, was the son of Richard Docwra of Hitchin Bradkirke, Hertfordshire, and Alice Greene of Gressingham in Lancashire.

James' brother was Sir Thomas Docwra, the Lord Prior of St John, the Knights Hospitallers.
